A five-alarm fire destroyed a two-story business complex in Santa Ana, but no one was injured.
The fire was reported Wednesday at 1540 E. Edinger Ave., said Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority.
When units arrived on scene, firefighters saw flames shooting through the roof of the building, which housed 16 units, according to Kurtz.
“At that point, our objective was to hold the fire at the building of origin,” Kurtz said.
Firefighters were also concerned with flying embers starting other fires, which prompted units to patrol the area and make certain no other fires were started, Kurtz said.
It took 90 firefighters about two hours to put out the blaze.
The cause of the fire was under investigation and Kurtz expected crews to remain at the scene conducting mop-up operations and checking for hot spots until early Thursday morning.
The intersection of Edinger and Grand avenues was closed for the investigation and cleanup.
