
A three-vehicle crash Monday in Coto de Caza left one driver dead and another hospitalized.
The crash happened about 11:20 a.m. at Oso Parkway and Bridal Path, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz.
A Ford Econoline van that was traveling westbound on Oso Parkway drifted into the eastbound lanes and sideswiped a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck before slamming head-on into an eastbound Nissan sedan, said California Highway Patrol Officer Rafael Reynoso.
The Nissan’s driver, who was in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending family notification.
The cargo van’s driver, who is in his 20s, was rushed to Mission Hospital in Mission iejo to be treated for “major” injuries, Reynoso said.
The pickup truck driver, who is in his 40s, sustained minor injuries and did not need to be taken to a hospital, Reynoso said.
