A man and a woman were hurt Monday in Garden Grove when the car the man was driving suddenly crossed over lanes and slammed into a fire hydrant and then an Edison power pole, according to police.
The crash took place about 10:40 a.m. on Garden Grove Boulevard, just east of Beach Boulevard, according to Garden Grove police Sgt. Mario Martinez.
The gray-colored car the man was driving was headed west on Garden Grove Boulevard when it suddenly drove onto the eastbound lanes and crashed into the fire hydrant before it hit the power pole, witnesses told police.
The unnamed man and woman were trapped in the car wreckage for about 30 minutes before they were freed by firefighters, Martinez said.
Both people were taken to UCI Medical Center and were last listed in stable condition, Martinez added.
It’s unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in this crash.
Anyone with information on the crash was asked to call Garden Grove police investigator Royce Wimmer at (714) 741-5823.
