One person was killed and two others were injured in a head-on crash in San Clemente, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
It occurred Sunday on North El Camino Real, near Camino San Clemente, sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Braun said.
According to Braun, a driver of an Oldsmobile Bravada was heading south in the northbound lanes of El Camino Real. Meanwhile, a Toyota Prius was going north on the same street.
The crash left the driver of the Bravada dead at the scene, Braun said. The person’s name was withheld pending family notification. There’s no word yet on the person’s gender or age.
The driver of the Prius and a passenger were injured in the crash and were taken to a hospital for treatment, Braun said.
Their current conditions were unknown. Their ages and genders were not released by the sheriff’s department.
It’s not yet known if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this crash, Braun said.
The crash temporarily shut down all lanes on North El Camino Real from Camino San Clemente to Avenida Pico while an investigation was conducted.
