A 36-year-old Garden Grove woman was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of setting a series of fires in Santa Ana last night that knocked out power in the neighborhood.
Marilyn Fajardo was booked on suspicion of arson and was being held in Orange County Jail on $20,000 bail.
Witnesses called police about 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. When officers arrived at 1st Street and Standard Avenue the witnesses pointed to Fajardo and said she had used paper and cloth to set trees ablaze, Bertagna said.
The flames spread to storage containers and a Southern California Edison utility pole at a construction site, knocking out power in the neighborhood, Bertagna said.
Orange County Fire Authority firefighters quickly doused the flames and Fajardo was arrested, Bertagna said. Edison restored power to the area, he said.
