A 47-year-old man who was killed in a head-on crash in San Clemente that left two others injured was identified Saturday by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.

The crash took place about 4:50 p.m. Sunday on North El Camino Real, near Camino San Clemente, according to spokeswoman Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Braun said Michel Crane of San Clemente was driving an Oldsmobile Bravada heading south in the northbound lanes of El Camino Real. Meanwhile, a Toyota Prius was going north on the same street.

The crash left Crane in the Bravada dead at the scene, Braun said.

The driver of the Prius and a passenger were injured in the crash and were taken to a hospital for treatment, Braun said.

Their current conditions were unknown. Their ages and genders were not released by the sheriff’s department.

It’s not yet known if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this crash, Braun said.

The crash temporarily shut down all lanes on North El Camino Real from Camino San Clemente to Avenida Pico while an investigation was conducted.
