More than 16,000 third- through sixth-grade students from more than 170 schools are expected to be at Honda Center Wednesday for a hockey-related lesson on energy with the Anaheim Ducks.
What has been dubbed “The First Flight Field Trip” is intended to encourage students to engage and explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math through a variety of activities and demonstrations. The trip’s theme is “Turn Up The Energy.”
The trip is divided into two segments. The playground segment features interactive exhibits in Honda Center’s parking lot. In the classroom segment, Ducks players will speak to students and demonstrate on-ice activities highlighting the physics of shooting pucks they utilize every game.
The trip is the largest element of the team’s S.C.O.R.E. (Scholastic Curriculum of Recreation & Education) program, with the goal of promoting and cultivating healthy living and academic excellence to all students in Southern California. The program is the primary beneficiary of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation.
