A motorist was killed Saturday in a fiery single-vehicle crash in Tustin, authorities said.
“The vehicle was split in half and the engine compartment was on fire,” Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 5:10 a.m. to the crash scene on Jamboree Road, north of Patriot Way, Concialdi said.
The solo occupant of the Ford Mustang was identified as Andrew Kim, 22, of Irvine, Tustin Police Lt. Robert Wright said.
“The cause of the accident is under investigation, however it appears excessive speed was likely a contributing factor,” Wright said.
Kim was going northbound on Jamboree Road when he crashed into a tree in the center median north of Patriot Way, Wright said.
