Two people were killed Monday in a crash on a Garden Grove street near the Garden Grove (22) Freeway, authorities said.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 12:37 a.m. on Beach Boulevard just south of Garden Grove Boulevard, Garden Grove police Cpl. Royce Wimmer said. Another person was unresponsive when taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange and was pronounced dead at the hospital, he said.
The crash was at the end of the Beach Boulevard off-ramp from the Garden Grove Freeway, which was closed for the police investigation by the California Highway Patrol. It was reopened at 5:15 a.m.
Investigators were working to determine the cause of the crash and if drugs or alcohol were a factor, Wimmer said.
