Firefighters quickly contained a one-acre brush fire in the El Modena open space reserve in Orange, authorities said Monday.

The flames were reported around 3:50 p.m. Sunday in the open space area along Cannon Street north of Chapman Avenue, the Orange County Fire Authority said.

Forward progress was stopped within two hours with help from OCFA and Orange County sheriff’s helicopters making water drops, OCFA officials said. OCFA firefighters assisted Orange Fire counterparts.

No injuries or structure damage were reported.
