
One person was killed and four others injured in a multi-vehicle collision on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway north of Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa Thursday morning.
Firefighters responded to the scene at 2:45 a.m. and began triaging and treating victims, according to the Costa Mesa Fire Department.

Four victims were transported to hospitals in unknown condition and firefighters continued to triage additional victims and an air ambulance was requested, the fire department said. It was unclear if any additional victims were transported to hospitals.
Two vehicles and a semi truck were involved in the crash, with at least one of the vehicles catching fire. All lanes of the southbound San Diego Freeway, except the car pool lane, are closed until further notice, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log, while the investigation continued.
