The Orange County Clerk-Recorder’s office in Fullerton will be shut down and a new office for north Orange County residents will be opened in Anaheim, it was announced Tuesday.

The North County branch office at 201 N. Harbor Blvd., which was opened in February 2009, is now too small, officials said. The new Anaheim office at 222 S. Harbor Blvd. will be double the size.

Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen hopes to open the new office in Anaheim by February.

The branch office in Fullerton offers an array of services such as birth, death and marriage certificates as well as issuance of marriage licenses and performance of marriage ceremonies.

The new office in Anaheim will offer the same services, but visitors may also get passports and it will have two marriage ceremony rooms instead of the one available in Fullerton.

“I am looking forward to opening this new office in Anaheim,” Nguyen said. “We will be able to continue serving the public by expanding our services and making our services as convenient as possible for our customers in north Orange County. I would like to thank the city of Fullerton for helping us service the public for nearly 10 successful years.”
