Fullerton firefighters rescued a man who fell into a flood control channel and broke both ankles, authorities said Monday.
It happened about 10 p.m. Sunday in the flood control channel behind 146 S. Cornell Ave., a Fullerton Fire Department dispatcher said.
The man was clinging to a rope in two feet of water and a firefighter went into the channel to rescue him, the dispatcher said.
Broadcast video showed the firefighter using a ladder and rope to pull the man out of the channel and residents said they provided the rope to which the man was clinging.
He was taken to a hospital for treatment of the broken ankles, the dispatcher said.
