A wrong way driver going northbound in the southbound lanes of the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway crashed into the center divider and prompted the closure of a stretch of the freeway.
The crash occurred near Baker Street about 4:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
It was unclear if anyone was injured.
All lanes southbound lanes of the freeway were briefly stopped before a SigAlert was issued for the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the Costa Mesa Freeway at Paularino Avenue until further notice, the CHP said.
