A 35-year-old man jumped to his death Wednesday afternoon from a freeway overpass in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department got a call at 2:38 p.m. about a person threatening to jump from a northbound Santa Ana (101) Freeway overpass, at Los Angeles Street, according to the LAFD’s Margaret Stewart.
She said the unidentified man jumped off the overpass while crews were on their way to the scene. He was “beyond medical help” by the time they arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene, Stewart said.
Two northbound lanes of the freeway were closed at Alameda Street until about 5 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
