All connectors to the Corona (71) Expressway from the Riverside (91) Freeway in Corona were shut down Tuesday because of the Blue Ridge Fire burning in neighboring Orange and San Bernardino counties.
According to Caltrans, the northbound and southbound connector ramps were closed Tuesday afternoon after the flames moved underneath the expressway just northwest of Riverside County.
Detours were in place, and drivers were advised to use either Interstate 15 or the Orange (57) Freeway as alternates.
The 15,000-acre Blue Ridge Fire erupted about 12:55 p.m. Monday near the Green River Golf Club in west Corona and quickly spread into Orange County, propelled by 30 mph Santa Ana winds.
Evacuations were ordered in Brea, Yorba Linda and Chino Hills.
As of 5 p.m., the blaze was 0% contained.
There was no word on what might have triggered it.
