A fire that broke out Thursday in a Temescal Valley home caused significant damage, but no one was injured.

The blaze was reported at about 3:30 p.m. in the 26000 block of Colt Drive, just west of Interstate 15, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered smoke pouring out of the two-story structure.

Strong Santa Ana winds fanned the flames, which personnel largely contained by 4:30 p.m., according to reports from the scene.

It was unclear whether the property was occupied at the time the fire erupted. Crews were expected to remain there until about 8 p.m., mopping up.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
