A Honda Accord sedan crashed into a fire hydrant and tree Monday evening in Garden Grove, shearing the hydrant and sending water shooting into the air and two people were seen running from the wrecked car.
Anaheim Fire and Rescue responded to the crash in the 2000 block of Euclid Street, north of Orangewood Avenue and near Garden Grove’s border with Anaheim, about 10:15 p.m. Firefighters called in crews from the Garden Grove Public Works Department for help in turning off water to the hydrant.
A news photographer at the scene said the water was hitting overhead power lines.
Anaheim and Garden Grove police searched nearby neighborhoods for the two people who were seen running from the scene. A description of the two people was not immediately available.
