A big rig blew over Tuesday amid high winds just north of San Jacinto and landed on an SUV, injuring the driver, authorities said.
The rollover happened shortly after 1 p.m. in the area of Sanderson Avenue and Highway 79, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Santa Ana winds in the San Jacinto Valley were gusting to about 40 mph at the time.
Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and found the tractor-trailer jackknifed in the roadway, with the back end of the rig on top of the SUV, according to reports from the scene.
The motorist was able to crawl out of the wreckage and was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
There was no word on the condition of the trucker.
Sheriff’s deputies partially shut down Sanderson while crews worked to remove he wreckage from the roadway.
