The South Coast Air Quality Management Division has issued a PM10 Dust Advisory for Saturday and lasting through Sunday afternoon for portions of the South Coast Air Basin and Coachella Valley due to a Santa Ana wind event.

Areas of blowing dust and sand are predicted throughout this wind event, which may result in air quality reaching “unhealthy for sensitive groups” or higher Air Quality Index levels. Localized areas of blowing ash are possible in areas near the 2020 wildfire burn scars.

The South Coast AQMD encourages those in areas of direct impact to limit exposure by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed, and to avoid vigorous physical activity.

Residents can check their air quality in real time by downloading the South Coast AQMD app available in English and Spanish, or by viewing the AQI map found at the bottom of the homepage.
