The cause of a small fire that ignited in the Santa Ana river bottom in Riverside Sunday was under investigation.
The blaze was reported at 12:18 p.m. in an area east of Mission Boulevard and Crestmore Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
A little less than an hour later, fire officials announced that the forward spread of the fire had been stopped.
No injuries were reported.
