Firefighters extinguished a fire that burned a row of cypress trees that came close to burning a building Sunday evening in Highland Park.

The fire near 5063 N. San Rafael Ave. was reported at 8:48 p.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.

The department sent 36 firefighters to the scene and put the flames out in just over 20 minutes, Prange said.
