The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Orange County rose Thursday to a record $4.699, breaking the previous record of $4.69 set on Oct. 8, 2012.

The average price increased 1.2 cents, one day after rising 3.2 cents, its largest daily increase since Nov. 11, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 5.2 cents more than one week ago, 4.7 cents higher than one month ago and $1.223 greater than one year ago.

The Los Angeles County average price rose 1.4 cents to its highest amount since Nov. 27, $4.716. The average price has increased 4.7 cents over the past four days, including 2.8 cents Wednesday, its largest daily increase since Feb. 19.

The average price is 5 cents more than one week ago, 3.3 cents higher than one month ago and $1.229 greater than one year ago.
