Actress Shannen Doherty, who is battling Stage 4 breast cancer, filed for divorce Monday from her husband of 11 years, photographer Kurt Iswarienko.
According to the Los Angeles Superior Court documents, first obtained by TMZ, the couple separated in January.
In a statement to various media outlets, Doherty rep Leslie Sloane said “divorce is the last thing Shannen wanted. Unfortunately she felt she was left with no other option.”
Late last week, Doherty posted on her Instagram account, “The only people who deserve to be in your life are the ones who treat you with love, kindness and total respect.”
Doherty, 52, and Iswarienko were married in October 2011. They had no children.
It was the third marriage for Doherty, who was previously married briefly to Ashley Hamilton and Rick Salomon. The marriage was the second for Iswarienko.
Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 but said later it was in remission. However, she announed in 2020 that it had returned.
Doherty is best known for her work in “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Charmed.”
