A dog was killed and two people sustained minor injuries in a fire at a mobile home in Stanton Tuesday that displaced a family of four adults.
Firefighters were sent to the 8600 block of Katella Avenue, near Dale Avenue and the border with Garden Grove, around 4 p.m. Tuesday regarding a fire at a mobile home, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
A resident attempted to return inside the burning structure to rescue a dog but was prevented by excessive heat from the fire. The dog did not survive despite multiple attempts to revive the animal, according to the department.
The flames were extinguished, with no other structures damaged.
The two injured people declined to be taken to a hospital, according to the department.
The Red Cross was requested to respond to provide assistance to the displaced family which was given a $250 gift card from the California Fire Foundation for a place to stay the night or purchase basic necessities such as food, clothing, gas or medicine, according to the department.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
