The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose two-tenths of a cent Friday to $4.58, its sixth increase in seven days.
The average price is 2.5 cents more than one week ago but 4.7 cents less than one month ago and 79 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.914 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped two-tenths of a cent to $4.503, one day after a run of four increases in five days totaling 3 cents ended with a decrease of three-tenths of a cent. It is 2.5 cents more than one week ago but 6 cents less than one month ago and 81.4 cents lower than one year ago.
The Orange County average price has dropped $1.956 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“Last year at this time, the state was at the start of a summer blend supply issue that drove up prices to near-record levels in September and October,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
“Fortunately, that does not appear to be happening this year as Labor Day travelers fill up for their road trips.”
The national average price dropped 1.1 cents to $3.350, one day after remaining unchanged. It has dropped 14 of the past 16 days, decreasing 9.5 cents, and is 2.4 cents less than one week ago, 14.9 cents lower than one month ago and 47.7 cents below what is was one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.666 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
