A man was found down in the HOV lane of the westbound Artesia (91) Freeway in Buena Park Friday morning causing the California Highway Patrol to shut down freeway lanes and a transition to the Santa Ana (5) Freeway.
The man was found at 3:55 a.m. in the HOV lane of the westbound Artesia Freeway just east of Beach Boulevard and a blue pickup was found on the right shoulder, according to the CHP log.
Someone began CPR on the man but it was not specified whether it was a CHP officer performing the life-saving effort.
The CHP initially stopped westbound 91 traffic at Magnolia Street before issuing a SigAlert at 4:10 a.m for the HOV lane and lanes 1 and 2 east of Beach Boulevard and stopped traffic on the HOV lane transition from the northbound 5 to the westbound 91. It was added to the SigAlert at 4:54 a.m.
The Major Accident Investigation Team was dispatched to the scene at 6:14 a.m.
The CHP did not indicate whether the male died and a dispatcher at the Orange County CHP communications center told City News Service she didn’t know either.
