Orange County firefighters rescued a construction worker who got trapped in a trench Thursday in Irvine.

Firefighters were called about 1:40 p.m. to the 6500 block of Roosevelt to remove the worker, who was stuck about six feet down in an unshored trench, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Greg Barta.

The worker, who was expected to survive, was taken to a hospital at about 4 p.m., Barta said.
