The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Wednesday for the 15th time in 16 days, decreasing 1 cent to $4.454, its lowest amount since Jan. 14.

The average price has dropped 17.8 cents over the past 16 days, including four-tenths of a cent Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It decreased 13 consecutive days, rose two-tenths of a cent Monday and resumed dropping Tuesday.

The average price is 5 cents less than one week ago and 31.7 cents lower than one month ago, but 5.1 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $2.04 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 30th time in 31 days, falling nine-tenths of a cent to $4.33, its lowest amount since Dec. 22, 2024. It dropped five consecutive days, rose a half-cent Nov. 29 and resumed decreasing the following day.

The run began one day after the end of a 12-day streak of decreases totaling 13.9 cents.

The average price has dropped 38.5 cents during the run, including 1.5 cents Tuesday. It is 6.7 cents less than one week ago, 38.2 cents lower than one month ago and 1.2 cents below what it was one year ago.

The average price has dropped $2.089 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price resumed decreasing, dropping four-tenths of a cent to $2.854, one day after a run of 10 decreases in 11 days totaling 8.5 cents ended with an increase of three-tenths of a cent.

The national average price is 5.1 cents less than one week ago, 21.5 cents lower than one month ago and 18.7 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.162 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
