Dueling lawsuits that arose after a 2024 onstage altercation between Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell and bassist Dave Navarro — when Farrell punched Navarro — have been settled.
Farrell sued former bandmates Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins on July 16, the same day the three brought their own lawsuit against him. Farrell accused the trio of being behind a longtime effort to bully and harass him. He also alleged that he had no say in canceling their tour and breaking up the band.
Farrell additionally maintained that the Sept. 13, 2024, altercation at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston was spurred by his frustration over the other band members playing their instruments at a high volume so he could not hear himself sing without blasting his own in-ear monitors at an unsafe level.
In their complaint, Navarro, Avery and Perkins cited the onstage confrontation between Navarro and Farrell that resulted in Farrell being taken offstage by crew members. The three said Farrell’s behavior cause the cancellation of their reunion tour, which was the first road trip they had played together since 2010.
“The attack became a terminal inflection point for Jane’s Addiction and each plaintiff,” according to the trio’s lawsuit.
Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Michael Whitaker signed an order Monday agreeing to retain jurisdiction over the cases in order to enforce the settlement terms, which were not divulged in the attorneys’ joint court papers.
Jane’s Addiction was founded in 1985 by Farrell and Avery.
