The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped four-tenths of a cent Thursday to $4.45, its lowest amount since Jan. 14 and the lowest amount on Christmas Day since 2020.

The average price has dropped 17 times in 18 days, and is 3.9 cents less than one week ago and 30.5 cents less than one month ago, but 4.6 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $2.044 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price increased six-tenths of a cent to $4.336, after dropping 30 times in the previous 31 days to its lowest amount since Dec. 22, 2024. The Orange County average price is also the lowest it’s been on Christmas Day since 2020.

It is 5 cents less than one week ago, 35.2 cents less than one month ago and two-tenths of a cent less than one year ago. It has dropped $2.123 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped seven-tenths of a cent to $2.847. It is 4.9 cents less than one week ago, 20.8 cents less than one month ago and 19.3 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $2.169 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
