The run of seven decreases in eight days that dropped the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County to its lowest amount since Dec. 20, 2024, ended Sunday with an increase of two-tenths of a cent to $4.367.

The average price dropped 6.9 cents during the run, including a half-cent Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped a half-cent on both Jan. 3 and last Sunday, rose a half-cent Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.

The average price is 5.7 cents less than one week ago, 20.6 cents lower than one month ago and 8.4 cents less below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.127 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The eight-day streak of decreases that dropped the Orange County average price to its lowest amount since June 25, 2021, ended with an increase of one-tenth of a cent to $4.249. The average price dropped 6.6 cents during the streak, including two-tenths of a cent Saturday.

The Orange County average price is 6.1 cents less than one week ago, 22.3 cents lower than one month ago and 14.1 cents less than it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.21 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the third consecutive day, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $2.795. It has dropped 2.4 cents over the past three days, including eight-tenths of a cent Saturday.

The national average price is 1.9 cents less than one week ago, 14.5 cents lower than one month ago and 26.9 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.221 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022, and is at its lowest amount in almost five years.
