The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Thursday for the ninth time in 10 days, decreasing 1.9 cents to $6.125.
The average price has fallen 8.7 cents over the past 10 days, including 2.1 cents Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped six consecutive days, rose two-tenths of a cent on Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.
The average price is 7.5 cents less than one week ago, but 6.6 cents more than one month ago and $1.332 higher than one year ago. It has risen $1.431 since the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28, moving within 36.9 cents of the record $6.494 set Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped for the 14th time in 15 days, decreasing 2.4 cents to $6.056. It has dropped 13.6 cents over the past 15 days, including 2.6 cents Wednesday.
The Orange County average price dropped three consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent May 17 and resumed dropping May 18. It is 10.3 cents less than one week ago, but 3.6 cents more than one month ago and $1.353 higher than one year ago.
The Orange County average price has risen $1.42 since the attack on Iran, moving within 40.3 cents of the record $6.459 set Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price dropped for the seventh consecutive day, decreasing 3.3 cents to $4.426. It has dropped 13.8 cents over the past seven days, including 3.2 cents Wednesday.
The streak of decreases follows a four-day streak of increases totaling 5.1 cents.
The national average price is 25 cents more than one month ago and $1.262 higher than one year ago. It has risen $1.444 since the attack on Iran, moving within 59 cents of the record $5.016 set June 14, 2022.
“More drops to come, but beyond this week still largely guesswork,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations, wrote on social media Wednesday.
