The Dodgers will begin their first games at home following the All-Star break Tuesday evening, facing the Seattle Mariners after a 6-3 road trip, winning two of three games against the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets.
The Dodgers have not announced their starting pitcher for the opener of the three-game series. Right-hander Luis Castillo (3-9) will start for the Mariners, who are 5-11 in his 16 starts, including a 1-5 record in his last six.
The three-time All-Star Game selection — most recently in 2023 — is 3-0 with a 2.83 ERA in five starts against the Dodgers. Castillo will be facing the Dodgers for the first time since June 22, 2022, when he allowed four runs and five hits in five innings and did not figure in the decision in the Dodgers’ 8-4 victory over Cincinnati. The score was tied 4-4 when Castillo left the game.
Shohei Ohtani is 4-for-11 for a .364 batting average with one home run and two RBIs against Castillo.
The Dodgers (67-39) lead the Milwaukee Brewers (66-40) by one game in the race for the best record in baseball and home-field advantage throughout the postseason. Their 12 1/2-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West is the widest in baseball.
Seattle (52-55) is third in the five-team American League West, 2 1/2 games behind the division-leading Texas Rangers (54-52). The Mariners are two games behind the Cleveland Guardians (54-53) in the race for the American League’s third and final wild-card berth.
The first 40l,000 fans in attendance will receive a replica World Series ring.
The 7:10 p.m. game will be televised by SportsNet LA.
The six-game homestand will conclude with a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox Friday through Sunday.
