The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose for the 20th consecutive day Monday, increasing 1 cent to $5.782, its highest amount since June 5 and highest ever on Labor Day.
The previous record for Labor Day was $5.285 in 2023.
The average price has risen 26.2 cents over the past 20 days, including 1.4 cents Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 15.1 cents more than one week ago, 22.1 cents more than one month ago and $1.28 more than one year ago.
It has increased $1.231 since the start of the joint U.S./Israel war on Iran on Feb. 28, which sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.
The national average price increased three-tenths of a cent to $4.15, its highest ever on Labor Day, breaking the old record of $3.82 set in 2012. It is 7 cents more than one week ago, 10.8 cents more than one month ago and 95.3 cents more than one year ago. It has increased $1.168 since the attack on Iran.
