The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose for the 33rd consecutive day Sunday, increasing 1.8 cents to $6.202, its highest amount since May 20.
The average price has risen 56 cents over the past 33 days, including 1.9 cents Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 16.4 cents more than one week ago, 55.4 cents more than one month ago and $1.47 more than one year ago.
The average price has increased $1.508 since the start of the joint U.S./Israel war on Iran on Feb. 28, which sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.
The Orange County average price also rose for the 33rd consecutive day, increasing 2 cents to $6.18, its highest amount since May 14. It has increased 60.5 cents over the past 33 days, including 1.8 cents Saturday.
The Orange County average price is 17.2 cents more than one week ago, 58.8 cents more than one month ago and $1.47 more than one year ago. It has increased $1.544 since the start of the war on Iran.
The national average price rose for the 20th time in 21 days but just barely, increasing one-tenth of a cent to $4.476. It has risen 39.9 cents over the past 21 days, including seven-tenths of a cent Saturday.
The national average price is 16.3 cents more than one week ago, 37.2 cents more than one month ago and $1.287 more than one year ago. It has increased $1.494 since the attack on Iran.
The national average price is at its highest amount this late in the calendar year, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
