Animal shelters throughout Riverside County will offer low-flat rate spay surgeries for female cats and dogs Feb. 23 in connection with World Spay Day.
Participating organizations, including the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, will be offering spay procedures for $25. The typical rate ranges from $63 to $108.
“Surgeries will be for cats and dogs at some of the organizations,” Department of Animal Services spokesman John Welsh said. “Other agencies may elect to perform only cat surgeries.”
Animal Friends of the Valleys, which serves most of the southwest county region, as well as Loving All Animals of Coachella, the Palm Springs Animal Shelter and the Ramona Humane Society in San Jacinto will be among participants.
Some of the organizations are requiring appointments in advance, so residents were advised to check the pertinent websites to make arrangements.
The county’s spay day procedures will be confined to the Western Riverside County Animal Shelter in Jurupa Valley and the partially closed San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus.
