Emergency crews were attempting to rescue an injured horse rider in a remote area east of Temecula Sunday.

The injury was reported at around 11:35 a.m. near Sandstone and Gemstone roads in the unincorporated community of Aguanga, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The extent of the rider’s injuries was not immediately available.

Fire officials said a rescue team was attempting to reach the injured person.
