The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose Sunday for the 34th consecutive day and 54th time in 55 days, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.668, its highest amount since Dec. 6, 2019.
The average price has increased 48.8 cents over the past 55 days, including 1.6 cents Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 11.4 cents higher than one week ago, 31.6 cents more than one month ago and 19.3 cents greater than one year ago.
The run of rising prices has been the result of increasing crude oil prices, trader activity in the futures markets and the Texas deep freeze, which “has diverted some California gasoline production to Arizona,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
