An investigation into the crash that killed a 26-year-old motorist on an Interstate 215 exit ramp in Riverside was underway Monday, with an autopsy pending to determine whether she might have been impaired.
The woman, a Colton resident whose name was withheld, was fatally injured about 7:30 a.m. Sunday when the 2004 Infinity Q35 she was driving slammed into a traffic light pole while exiting southbound Van Buren Boulevard from the I-215.
“As the Infinity approached the top off the off-ramp, it appeared the vehicle made no attempt to negotiate the right-hand turn and made no attempts to slow down,” California Highway Patrol Officer Juan Quintero said. “The Infinity struck the signal pole, which resulted in fatal injuries to the driver and major damage to the car.”
No other vehicles were involved.
The woman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
“Alcohol or drugs have not been ruled out as factors,” Quintero said.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the Riverside CHP office at 951-637-8000.
