A vehicle plunged nearly 90 feet down a hillside on Highway 74 near Lake Elsinore Tuesday morning, spurring first responders to free the injured driver from the wreckage.
The solo vehicle crash was reported at about 7:50 a.m. about 10 miles southwest of Lake Elsinore, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Firefighters sent to the location encountered a vehicle 89 feet down a hillside with one person inside unable to escape the vehicle. Firefighters extricated the motorist, whose name or other identifying information was not provided.
The driver was rushed to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Traffic on Highway 74 was temporarily blocked in both directions while crews completed the rescue.
It was not immediately clear what led up to the incident.
