Two people were freed from the wreckage of a crash involving a semi truck and SUV on state Route 60 in Moreno Valley Saturday morning and taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The crash was reported at 2:45 a.m. near the Day Street exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The SUV went down the embankment, the CHP said.

Details of what led up to the crash were not available.

The Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of the freeway at Day Street and the Day Street exit were closed until further notice.
