The Riverside City Council is seeking public input on what criteria should apply in hiring the next city attorney, and a virtual meeting is planned next week to hear comments.
A listening session is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and will run about 90 minutes, according to the city manager’s office.
“Legal work performed by the City Attorney’s Office includes reviewing and making recommendations on contracts and real estate documents, drafting and negotiating development agreements, ordinances and resolutions, and providing other general legal services as needed,” city spokesman Phil Pitchford said.
The municipal contract with the previous city attorney, Gary Geuss, was terminated in October because of unspecified conflicts. He had been in the position for about five years.
Residents interested in joining the online session to hear and provide input are asked to visit the following website an hour or less before the meeting Tuesday: zoom.us/j/99190971560?pwd=OWxJZ0R1QjRsWTV3MVEyUk5mR3ZUQT09.
Access to the session will be enabled using meeting ID 99190971560, and the passcode 856444.
Anyone requiring additional information was asked to contact the recruiter hired by the city to find suitable city attorney candidates, CRS HR Consulting, at 916-471-3111.
