Two big rigs collided on Interstate 10 Thursday about 15 miles east of Indio, strewing debris over the roadway and snarling traffic but causing no injuries.
The crash was reported about 7:40 a.m on the eastbound I-10, near Cactus City, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Caltrans reported heavy traffic east of the crash site due to one of the slow lanes and the shoulder being shuttered due to the collision.
Two tow trucks were called to the scene. One of the tractor-trailers was hauling 20,000 pounds of cargo, the CHP said.
It was unclear when the roadway would be fully clear.
