The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose Saturday for the 54th consecutive day and 74th time in 75 days, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.868, its highest amount since Nov. 20, 2019.
The average price has increased 68.8 cents over the past 75 days, including two-tenths of a cent on Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 5.5 cents higher than one week ago, 33 cents more than one month ago and 64.3 cents greater than one year ago.
There are signs the weekly price increases that began before Christmas may soon come to an end, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
“Oil Price Information Service reported Wednesday that wholesale prices are now dropping on news that some gasoline components that were in short supply have now arrived from overseas,” Spring said. “Also, OPIS reported that Arizona supply issues are resolving as Texas refineries return to full production, so California refineries are sending less gasoline to Arizona.”
