A portion of Indio Boulevard is closed Sunday morning while crews repair power lines damaged by last week’s windstorm.
The closure will be in effect until noon between Burr and Madison streets, according to the Imperial Irrigation District.
No planned outages were scheduled to occur while the work is being conducted.
Crews are restringing a main transmission line and distribution lines damaged by heavy winds on March 15 that snapped 18 power poles in the Indio area, temporarily knocking out power to over 1,000 IID customers.
“We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we have scheduled this work during daylight hours when our crews will be safest and with minimal disruption to traffic,” said IID Energy Manager Marilyn Del Bosque Gilbert.
