A wind advisory is in effect for the Riverside County mountains, Coachella Valley and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning through 5 a.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.

West winds of 20 to 30 mph — with gusts to 60 mph — were expected, according to forecasters.

The strong winds could blow around unsecured objects, tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result, the NWS said. Residents were advised to secure outdoor objects.

The strongest winds are expected for late afternoon Monday through the evening.

Drivers were urged to use extra caution, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle.

It was expected to be mostly sunny Monday morning, followed by partly cloudy skies.
