Two people were freed from the wreckage of a crash involving a semi and seven other vehicles on westbound state Route 60 in Jurupa Valley Friday evening.
The crash occurred about 9:25 p.m. east of Valley Way, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The big rig jackknifed and was blocking the slow lane and right shoulder of the freeway, the CHP said.
In addition to the patients freed from the wreckage, another five patients sustained injuries ranging from major to minor, the Riverside County Fire Department reported.
Details of what led up to the crash were not immediately available.
