At least one person died Saturday evening when a car struck an SUV on the 10 Freeway in Calimesa and went over the right hand shoulder.
The crash was reported at 9:43 p.m. on the westbound Christopher Columbus Transcontinental Highway (10) at Cherry Valley Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses told the CHP the driver lost control and went off the road and the car caught fire. They said the driver was pinned by the vehicle and they could not get to the driver.
The Riverside County coroner’s office was called to the scene at 10:02 p.m.
