A vehicle overturned at a Menifee intersection Friday and sheared a fire hydrant, but the driver escaped serious injury.
The crash was reported at 5:10 p.m. at Briggs and Simpson roads, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location within a few minutes and found the car on its roof nearly 100 yards from the intersection, with water pouring out of the broken hydrant.
The driver was treated at the scene by paramedics, but it was unclear whether he required hospitalization. No one else was hurt, and no other vehicles were involved.
Firefighters requested assistance from the Perris-based Eastern Municipal Water District to shut off the water.
No roadway closures were necessary.
CHP officers were investigating the cause of the crash.
